Germany will grant Moldova 77 million euros, of which 40 million euros will be allotted to overcome the energy crisis and help the vulnerable strata.

This was announced by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock at the opening of the ministerial conference "Moldova Support Platform" held today in Bucharest. "We plan to provide a grant of up to 77 million euros for development and cooperation with Moldova. At the previous conference it was said that Moldova needs more direct budget support. I know this is not easy for many countries, as it is for my country. We have a special order. We have to go to Parliament to approve this grant. But we are willing to do that. These 77 million euros include a grant of 40 million to support the poorest people in Moldova who suffer from energy vulnerability. At the same time, Germany will provide additional funds to support Moldovan refugees and host families," Annalena Baerbock said. The head of the German diplomacy also mentioned problems due to the war in Ukraine: the cessation of exports to the east, rising energy prices and inflation, which put great pressure on the Moldovan authorities, and the role Moldova plays for global food security as a result of the transit of Ukrainian wheat. In her speech, Annalena Baerbock also spoke about Moldova's support for switching to renewable energy sources in order to make the country more energy independent. According to her, Germany also supports the administrative reform and the fight against corruption, which will help improve the living standards in Moldova. // 15.07.2022 – InfoMarket
