The EU officially establishes a new regional task force within the EU Energy Platform, which includes 9 EU countries from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Moldova and Ukraine.

As noted in the report of the European Commission, in particular, a new regional task force within the EU Energy Platform has been officially launched, which includes 9 EU countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia) from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Ukraine and Moldova. This is the second such regional structure - the first was the South-East Europe Group, formed in April. The initiative came about after several countries in the EU region faced significant cuts in Russian gas supplies to their markets in June. The task force will focus on implementing the REPowerEU plan in the region. The goal is to reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels, fill storage capacity before next winter and further accelerate the decarbonization of the energy sector. The task force will also support and coordinate the implementation of joint preparedness plans in the region, including international procurement, storage and interconnections, which will help ensure security of supply in the region and beyond. // 04.07.2022 – InfoMarket
