Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) permits will be issued, suspended, withdrawn, amended and revoked through the e-AEO information system.

This is provided for in the draft amendments to the government decree on the enactment of a number of provisions of the Customs Code. The draft envisages uniform application of customs and tax compliance criteria as well as implementation of the automated information system for AEO authorization management (e-AEO). The project aims to modernize the AEO Program and guarantees the principles of supply chain security and safety, as well as trade facilitation. The e-AEO system will automate the management of the legal and administrative relationships arising from national and international AEO registration, application, review and authorization rules, and facilitate the exchange of information with businesses - applicants or holders of AEO status. The draft regulation specifies that the application for registration of a business entity as an AEO will be submitted to the Customs Service only electronically, through e-AEO, using the electronic signature on the application, and all subsequent communication between the applicant/owner of AEO status will be done through e-AEO. Situations where the Customs Service (CS) may suspend the AEO authorization have also been added. For example, if there are reasons to cancel, revoke or modify the permit, but the CS does not yet have all the necessary elements to make a decision. At the same time, it is proposed to adjust the cases when the CS has the right to revoke the AEO permit. Consultations on the government's draft resolution are ongoing until June 17: https://bit.ly/3Mtuvtk. // 07.06.2022 - InfoMarket
