The foreign ministers of the G7 countries at a meeting in Germany discussed ways to strengthen the socio-economic stability of Moldova.

This was reported by the MFAEI, noting that the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, at the invitation of the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, took part in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the G7 countries, together with the Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, USA, Great Britain, the high representative of the European Union, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The meeting participants reaffirmed their strong condemnation of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and violations of international law. "We express our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the victims of this war and reaffirm our strong support and commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, any change in status entails non-recognition by other states," said Vice Prime Minister Nicu Popescu. In his speech, the head of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry expressed his concern about the major events taking place in Ukraine, noting that the support of external partners, including the G7 countries, is the only way to strengthen our country's internal ability to manage the crisis caused by the instability of energy prices, the economic impact of supply chains, rising prices and inflation due to external factors, as well as the management of the humanitarian crisis by the authorities. Nicu Popescu told the foreign ministers that, despite the above challenges, the government is aimed at Europeanizing the country, improving the lives of its citizens and bringing Moldova closer to European standards. “The European project for Moldova means a process of transformation and modernization of institutions, strengthening of democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights. The European Union was, is and remains the most important peace project on the European continent, and the future of our democracy, the future of our country is tied to our irreversible European path,” Nicu Popescu emphasized. At the same time, during the discussions, issues related to regional security and ways to strengthen the socio-economic stability of our country were touched upon. // 13.05.2022 — InfoMarket
