It should be noted that the historical maximum of the total public debt of Moldova is 75 billion 578 million lei and was registered as of the end of June 2021. According to the Ministry of Finance of Moldova, the increase in the total public debt for 10 months of this year was due to the growth of both internal and external public debt, expressed in lei (MDL). In particular, the domestic public debt increased by 3 billion 867 million lei (+ 13.2%) - from 29 billion 235.6 million lei (as of the end of December 2020) to 33 billion 102.6 million lei (as of the end of October 2021). At the same time, the external public debt in lei terms during the same period increased by 1 billion 607.5 million lei (+ 4.2%) - from 38 billion 585.1 million to 40 billion 192.6 million lei. At the same time, the share of the domestic public debt in the total amount of the public debt of Moldova as of the end of October 2021 amounted to 45.2% (a month earlier - 45.4%), and the share of external public debt - 54.8% (a month earlier - 54.6%). In general, the share of total public debt in GDP as of the end of October 2021 is estimated at 31.5% (as of the end of 2020 - 32.9%). At the same time, GDP in 2020, according to operational data, amounted to 206.35 billion lei, and by the end of 2021 it is forecasted at the level of 232.5 billion lei. The Ministry of Finance noted that as of the end of October 2021, the share of public debt payable within 1 year amounted to 28.6% of the total, while the Public Debt Management Program in the Medium Term (2021-2023) provides parameters of 15-25%. The share of domestic public debt in the total volume of public debt was 45.2% (previously approved parameters: 35-50%), the proportion of external public debt in a certain currency in the total volume of external public debt as of the end of October 2021 was 33% (approved parameters: 20 -40%). The share of public debt with a variable interest rate in the total volume of public debt as of the end of October 2021 amounted to 42.1% with the parameters of 25-40%. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, the total public debt of Moldova in 2020 increased by 15.33 billion lei (+ 29.2%), amounting to 67 billion 820.7 million lei. At the same time, the domestic public debt in 2020 increased by 6 billion 067.4 million lei (+ 26.2%) - from 23 billion 168.2 million lei (as of the end of December 2019) to 29 billion 235.6 million lei (as of the end of December 2020), and the external public debt in lei terms increased by 9 billion 259 million lei (+ 31.6%) over the same period - from 29 billion 326.1 million to 38 billion 585.1 million lei. // 29.11.2021 – InfoMarket
