
The internal public debt of Moldova as of the end of October 2021 amounted to 33 billion 102.6 million lei, up 245.2 million lei (+ 0.7%) month on month.
At the same time, in general, in January-October 2021, the internal public debt of Moldova increased by 3 billion 867 million lei (+ 13.2%), since as of the end of December 2020 it amounted to 29 billion 235.6 million lei. It should be noted that the record indicator of the internal public debt of Moldova was registered as of the end of July 2021, when it amounted to 34 billion 333.6 million lei, and as of the end of September it amounted to 32 billion 857.4 million lei. According to the Ministry of Finance, the registered growth of the domestic public debt for 10 months of this year was mainly due to the increase in the issue of government securities in the primary market. In particular, as of the end of October 2021, the debt on state securities issued in the primary market amounted to about 18 billion 671.42 million lei, which is 4 billion 110.39 million lei (28.2%) more than at the end of 2020 (14 billion 561.03 million lei), and it accounted for 56.4% of the total volume of the domestic public debt. At the same time, the debt on bonds issued for the execution by the Ministry of Finance of payment obligations arising from state guarantees of November 17, 2014 and April 1, 2015, as of the end of October 2021 amounted to 12 billion 351.2 million lei, having decreased by 260 million lei (-2.1%), compared with the situation as of the end of 2020 (12 billion 611.2 million lei). It accounted for 37.3% of the total amount of Moldova's internal public debt as of the end of October 2021. The debt on converted government securities as of the end of October 2021 amounted to 2 billion 080.02 million lei, having increased versus the situation as of the end of 2020 by 16.63 million lei (+ 0.8%) and amounting to 6.3% of the total amount of domestic public debt as of the end of September 2021. According to the Ministry of Finance, for 10 months in 2021, the weighted average interest rate on government securities sold at auctions amounted to 5.17% (by types of government securities: 91 days - 3.49%, 182 days - 5.17%, 364 days - 5.63%, 2 years - 5.49%, 3 years - 5.85%, 5 years - 6.11%, 7 years - 6.58%), which is 0.04 percentage points less than in the same period of the previous year.
