Freelancers’ income in Moldova totaled 41.1 million lei in June: the amount of the single tax assessed on them was 6.1 million lei—14% more than in May
The State Tax Service of Moldova reported that it had issued and sent 3,181 notices regarding the payment of the single tax for June to self-employed individuals (freelancers), which is 12.8% more than in the previous month. It was also reported that 51.2% (+4.7 percentage points) of self-employed individuals conducted transactions through special bank accounts designated for this type of activity. Of these, 61 taxpayers used cash registers connected to the electronic sales monitoring system (SIA MEV), and the total amount of cash receipts processed through cash registers exceeded 806 thousand lei. As of July 10, 3,284 independent entrepreneurs were registered in the National Tax Service’s information system, and total single tax revenue from freelancers since the beginning of 2026 has reached nearly 14.2 million lei. The National Tax Service reminds taxpayers that July 27 is the deadline for paying the single tax for June. Payment can be made via the MPay platform (under the service “Single Tax Levied on Independent Entrepreneurs (Freelancers)”). The tax rate is 15% if annual income does not exceed 1.2 million lei, and 35% on the portion of income exceeding this threshold.
