In the first five months of 2026, the Customs Service collected 16.9 billion lei for the state budget, which is 2.5% more than the amount planned for this period
According to the agency, over the past week, from May 25 to 31, Customs Service revenues totaled 863.4 million lei (-1% compared to the previous week). About 2.8% (over 23.9 million lei) of the total amount came from individuals who brought goods into Moldova in excess of the tax-free limits. In total, customs officials processed 12,400 declarations over the week, and vehicles crossed the state border more than 75,000 times. The heaviest traffic was at the Leuşeni and Sculeni customs posts—16,300 and 13,500 vehicle crossings, respectively. The agency also reported that in May, subsequent customs inspections revealed numerous violations: non-compliance with the intended use of goods imported under tax exemptions, erroneous application of preferential regimes, and incorrect tariff classification of goods, as well as violations of the customs regime in effect in free economic zones. As a result, additional customs duties totaling 3.89 million lei were assessed for payment to the state budget. // 02.06.2026 – InfoMarket.
