This is stipulated by the draft fiscal and customs policy for the next year, passed by the Parliament in the second reading. Thus, from January 1, 2024, the excise duty on tobacco- containing filter and non-filter cigarettes (oval, up to 70 mm long and with mouthpiece) will be increased from the current rate of 893.75 lei +13%, but not less than 1198.75 lei per 1 thousand pieces, to 983.12 lei +13%, but not less than 1318.62 lei per 1 thousand pieces. In 2025 the amount of excise duty for these products will increase to 1081.43 lei +13%, but not less than 1450.48 lei per 1 thousand pieces, in 2026 - to 1189.57 lei +13%, but not less than 1595.53 lei per1 thousand pieces. In 2024, the amount of excise duties on cigars, cigars with cut ends and cigarillos containing tobacco, as well as on other cigars, cigarillos and cigarettes containing tobacco substitutes will amount to 41% of their value in lei (MDL), but not less than 1,318.62 lei per 1,000 pieces (41% and not less than 1,450.48 lei in 2025, 41% and not less than 1595.53 lei in 2026). Currently, these products are taxed at a rate of 41% but not less than 1198.75 lei per 1 thousand pieces. Smoking tobacco, other industrially manufactured tobacco and industrial tobacco substitutes; "homogenized" or "reconstituted" tobacco; tobacco extracts and essences will be taxed at the rate of 191.4 lei per kg in 2024, and in the following 2 years the excise tax will increase to 210.54 and, respectively, 231.6 lei per kg. Excise duty on tobacco sticks for tobacco heating devices will increase from 1198.75 lei 1 thousand pieces to 1318.62 lei in 2024, to 1450.48 lei in 2025, and by 2026 the excise duty rate will increase to 1595.53 lei per 1 thousand pieces. From 2024, an excise tax for cartridge refill bottles and electronic cigarettes will be introduced, which will be unified with the excise tax on cartridges and sticks for electronic cigarettes, including disposable electronic cigarettes: 2690.87 lei per liter in 2024, 2959.96 lei/liter - in 2025 and 3255.96 lei/liter - in 2026. //24.07.2023 - InfoMarket.
