The Ministry of Finance will discuss with IMF Mission experts tax reform, strengthening budgetary and fiscal discipline, optimization, management of state revenues, and the priorities of Moldova’s economic and financial development

The Ministry of Finance reported this, noting that a group of IMF experts is visiting Chisinau from May 7 to 20. As part of the Mission, Ministry of Finance leadership and specialists will hold a series of meetings with Fund representatives to discuss tax reform, strengthening budgetary and fiscal discipline, optimizing public revenue management, and Moldova’s economic and financial development priorities. The agenda for the discussions also includes issues related to macroeconomic policy, monetary policy, financial sector stability, and capital market development. The experts’ visit is taking place in the context of negotiations on a new program with the IMF, supported by the Policy Coordination Instrument. As part of the Mission, IMF experts will analyze recent economic developments, update their assessment of macroeconomic prospects and risks, and discuss policy and reform priorities with the authorities and other key stakeholders. The Policy Coordination Instrument is a non-financial tool available to all IMF member countries. It aims to strengthen the dialogue between the IMF and member countries and reaffirms the Fund’s support for the policies pursued by the authorities, thereby helping to bolster the confidence of external partners and mobilize financing from other sources. // 11.05.2026 — InfoMarket.
