According to data from the Balance of Payments published by the National Bank of Moldova, payments made to repay the principal and interest on external loans taken out by the public sector in January–March 2026 totaled 55 million euros, compared to 138.6 million euros during the same period a year earlier. Similar payments for the repayment and servicing of the private sector’s external debt in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to 128 million euros, compared to 101.1 million euros in the first quarter of 2025.
