The World Bank will continue to support reforms in Moldova to bring the country closer to European Union standards

This was discussed during a meeting between Finance Minister Andrian Gavrilita and Robert Saum, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Eastern Europe. According to the Ministry of Finance, the discussions focused on macroeconomic prospects, tax policy for the coming year, adjustments to the public sector wage system, and reform priorities in the context of the European integration process. At the same time, the parties discussed the progress of World Bank-supported programs and opportunities to expand cooperation in support of the Ministry of Finance’s reform agenda. During the discussion, Andrian Gavrilita emphasized the importance of measures complementing fiscal policy to increase the real incomes of the majority of the population. The Minister of Finance also noted that the partnership with the World Bank is strategic in nature, and that the expertise and support provided help strengthen public finances and implement the reforms necessary for Moldova to align with European Union standards.
