Moldova is expanding its dialogue with international partners to develop infrastructure and integrate the country's transport networks into the European space
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced this, noting that State Secretary Nicolae Mindra and representatives of the National Agency for Road Transport were part of the Moldovan delegation to the annual summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF) – the most important annual forum in this field. The forum, organized under the auspices of Azerbaijan's chairmanship from May 6 to 8 in Leipzig, brought together ministers, government representatives, international experts, and industry leaders from ITF member countries. This year's forum was held under the theme "Financing Sustainable Transport," and the agenda focused on solutions needed to develop transport systems capable of addressing economic, climate, and geopolitical challenges. The summit addressed issues related to infrastructure financing, transport corridor development, logistics modernization, digitalization of transport processes, and the use of innovative technologies to improve efficiency and connectivity. Participants also discussed the modernization of regional infrastructure, the simplification of border procedures, the transition to environmentally friendly transport, and the use of artificial intelligence in the transport sector. Moldova's participation in the International Transport Forum summit provided an opportunity to strengthen dialogue with international partners and promote national priorities regarding infrastructure development and the integration of the country's transport networks into the European space. The International Transport Forum (ITF) is an intergovernmental organization, part of the OECD, specializing in transport policy. Established in 2006 by transport ministers from 43 countries as a global platform for policy in this area, the ITF has since grown into an organization that today brings together 69 member states from five continents. For two decades, the organization has contributed to strengthening international cooperation in transport policy and provided data-driven analysis to support safe, efficient, sustainable, and resilient mobility systems./ 08.05.2026 – InfoMarket.
