Moldova aims to transition from a model based primarily on aid to one focused on investment, trade, and projects with sustainable economic impact—Alexandru Munteanu

The Moldovan Prime Minister made this statement during a meeting with Conor Coleman, Head of Investments at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation—a key partner in mobilizing strategic investments. Discussions focused on opportunities to attract U.S. investment in Moldova’s economic development, energy security, and regional integration projects. Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that Moldova aims to transition from a model based primarily on aid to one focused on investment, trade, and projects with sustainable economic impact. “Moldova offers an increasingly predictable environment for strategic investors, and we are constantly working to become a reliable platform for investment, including in the context of Ukraine’s recovery,” the Prime Minister said. Among the priority sectors for investment, he cited infrastructure and energy, with an emphasis on strengthening energy resilience, diversifying sources, and integrating into regional markets. Opportunities in the areas of digitalization, logistics, and manufacturing were also discussed. The head of the Cabinet highly praised the United States’ unwavering support for Moldova and reaffirmed the government’s interest in identifying and implementing new investment projects of national and regional significance. “A stable and sustainable Moldova directly contributes to regional security and the development of opportunities for the entire region,” emphasized Alexandru Munteanu. // 29.04.2026 — InfoMarket
