An January 29, an Investor Conference dedicated to the tender for the installation of wind farms and advanced energy storage systems (BESS) will be held in Chisinau

According to the Ministry of Energy, the event will bring together decision-makers, investors, and experts in this field, providing a platform for dialogue on strategic directions for the energy transition in Moldova and specific investment opportunities. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is supporting the Ministry of Energy in the tender process, providing technical assistance funded by the European Union and EBRD shareholders. Previously, Moldova announced a tender for the construction of wind farms with a total capacity of 170 MW, with the obligation to install 44 MWh of energy storage systems. According to the Ministry of Energy, for the first time in Moldova, this tender includes an energy storage component, which is aimed at increasing the flexibility and reliability of the national energy system and increasing electricity generation. Potential investors will be able to request clarifications until February 1, and proposals can be submitted from February 16 to March 31. An investor conference will be held on January 29 to discuss the tender documentation and the tender procedure. The winners will be those with the lowest bids below the ceiling price of 1.44 lei and no more than 170 MW of total capacity. The power plants will be built under a fixed-price/variable-premium support scheme. These auctions will contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy by 5.8% toward the national target of 30% renewable energy by 2030. Together with the first 165 MW auction, wind power will cover approximately 11.4% of this target. The Ministry of Energy estimates that the new investments will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 310,000 cars. // 28.01.2026 — InfoMarket.
