Moldovan authorities to improve the planning of the water supply and sanitation networks construction.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development reported this, noting that within the framework of the "Moldova Security and Sanitation Project " implemented by the agency with financial support from the World Bank, the necessary procedures have been initiated to develop a specialized section "Water and Sanitation" of the National Territorial Planning Plan. This means that it will be clearly established how water is supplied to each household: at the national, regional and local level. As noted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, when constructing water supply networks, there are situations when mayoralties do not take into account certain factors, such as the distance from the nearest trunk line or the availability of sewerage systems in neighboring communities. This section of the Plan will contribute to: prioritizing and efficient development of resources; optimizing the costs of both implementation and maintenance of the project; developing infrastructure in a coordinated manner throughout the country; regionalizing the management of water services, which will guarantee greater control and quality; protecting water resources from the threats of climate change; combating transboundary pollution; increasing the efficiency of water use in the sectors of the national economy; improving the quality of life, protecting the health of the population; and improving the quality of water supply. At the moment, the Ministry is at the stage of selecting a consulting company, and by 2026, the Territorial Development Plan will be ready, which will take into account the water sanitation component and ensure equal access to water for all citizens. // 12.12.2023 - InfoMarket.
