Due to the war in Ukraine Moldovan government will ask the parliament to extend the state of emergency introduced in the country on February 24 for 60 days.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita stated this while speaking on a TV channel. In her opinion, the state of emergency in Moldova should remain in force as long as there is a war in Ukraine, which creates risks for our country as well, since the escalation of the situation in Ukraine may cause a new wave of refugees, and prompt decisions will have to be taken. Prime Minister assured that the Moldovan authorities will not abuse the possibilities of the state of emergency regime, recalling that within the framework of the state of emergency only the decisions that relate specifically to managing the consequences of the refugee crisis and the war in Ukraine are taken, while all other decisions are discussed and taken by the government and parliament in the normal mode.
