The monthly inflation in Moldova amounted to 0.48% in May 2021, the annual inflation (over the last 12 months) - 3.09%, and inflation in January-May of this year - 3.81%.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this, noting that in May last year, the monthly inflation was registered at the level of 0.22%, inflation in January-May 2020 was 1.08%, and the annual inflation in May last year was 4.05 %. As noted by the NBM, consumer prices in May 2021 increased by an average of 0.48%, compared to the previous month, against the background of an increase in prices for food products - by 0.7% and for non-food products - by 0.52%, as well as an increase in tariffs for services provided to the population - by 0.11%. According to official statistics, in particular, in May 2021, compared to the previous month, prices for the following food products increased: young potatoes - by 25.9%, onions - by 13.8%, ice cream - by 2.3% , fish and canned fish - by 1.5% (in particular: fresh and frozen fish - by 3.5%), vegetable oil and mayonnaise - 1.4% each, meat, semi-finished meat products and canned food - 1.3% ( in particular, pork - by 1.9%, semi-finished and prepared meat products - by 1.3%, beef - by 1.1%, poultry - by 1%), fresh fruit - by 1.2% (in particular : citrus - by 4.1%, pome fruits - by 2.1%). At the same time, in the reporting period, prices for the following products decreased: fresh vegetables - by 7.1% (in particular, cucumbers - by 33.6%, root crops - by 9.6%, fresh mushrooms - by 8.6%, sweet peppers, zucchini - by 6.9%, tomatoes - by 5.8%, cabbage - by 5%), chicken eggs - by 1.5%. As far as non-food products are concerned, then in May 2021, compared to the previous month, prices for the following products increased: fuel - by 1.4% (in particular, gasoline - by 3.5%, diesel fuel - by 1.5%), garden equipment, sports equipment, equipment for camping and outdoor recreation, sandals for men, women and children, bicycles, materials for the maintenance and repair of housing - up to 7.3%. At the same time, in the same reporting month, prices for the following products decreased slightly: liquefied gas in cylinders - by 1.3%, coats, winter jackets for adults and children, clothes made of natural fur for adults - by 6.3%. Among the services provided to the population, in May 2021, compared with the previous month, there was an increase in prices for international tourism services - by 17.9%, maintenance and repair of housing - by 3.3%.
