This is provided for by the relevant amendments to the Law on Domestic Trade, which Parliament adopted in late April; they were published in the Official Gazette on May 9 and took effect three months after the law's publication. The document stipulates that in the retail sale of prepackaged food products, if the indication of the country of origin is mandatory under Article 24 of the Law on Consumer Information Regarding Food Products, or if this information is provided voluntarily by the retailer, the relevant information must be displayed on the price tag and must exactly match the information on the label. In the retail sale of unpackaged food products, as well as food products packaged at the point of sale at the consumer's request or pre-packaged for direct sale, the retailer must indicate the country of origin on the product's price tag based on information confirmed by commercial and traceability documents relating to the batch offered for sale. The country of origin shall be indicated by the name of the country. A flag may be used as an accompanying graphic element for the country of origin. A graphic depiction of a flag without specifying the country of origin is prohibited. The country of origin must be printed on the price tag or on a sign located in the immediate vicinity of the product, using a font size of at least 0.3 cm. Furthermore, amendments made at the same time to the Code of Administrative Offenses stipulate that failure to indicate the country of origin of food products, as well as providing such information in violation of the provisions of Article 191 of the Law on Domestic Trade, shall result in the imposition of a fine on officials in the amount of 60 to 90 conditional units and on legal entities in the amount of 120 to 240 conditional units. // 10.08.2026 — InfoMarket
