Moldova has made significant progress in implementing the reforms envisaged by the Growth Plan, particularly in the electricity and natural gas sectors - EBA Moldova
This was stated by Mariana Rufa, Executive Director of the European Business Association of Moldova (EBA Moldova), speaking at the Energy Strategy Summit 2026 in Bucharest. In her speech, she highlighted the important transformations achieved in Moldova in recent years, including: the liberalization of the natural gas market; the diversification of supply sources and routes from the European Union, including Romania; the active presence of BRM EST Moldova and its important role in ensuring the transparency of the gas procurement process; and Energocom's contribution to resolving the energy crisis at its initial stage. Regarding the electricity market, the following points were noted: the gradual harmonization of the regulatory framework with European legislation; the accelerated development of the renewable energy sector; support for investments in energy storage systems and balancing capacities; and increased investor interest in the energy sector in Moldova. At the same time, the Executive Director of the European Business Association of Moldova emphasized the need to maintain a healthy and predictable competitive environment; the continuous development of energy infrastructure and connections with the European Union; priority investment in cybersecurity in the energy sector; the effective implementation of the CBAM mechanism; and adjustments to the regulatory framework in the context of Moldova's accession to the European Union.// 09.06.2026 - InfoMarket
