The number of foreign tourists visiting Moldova in 2018 increased by 20%, - Moldovan Consul General in Italy Sergiu Goncearenco.
He mentioned this during the International Tourism Fair, which was held this week in Milan. In turn, consultant Nadia Pascual, responsible for marketing and PR of the National Association of Inbound Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM) in Italy, emphasized that the growth may seem small, but in fact it is significant, considering that only three years ago Moldova was known mainly for being among the least visited countries in the world. The event noted that the trend has changed in the past two years after numerous international media and tour operators, such as BBC Travel, Lonely Planet and Intrepid Travel, have included Moldova in the top 10 new destinations that cannot be missed. In this context, Sergiu Goncearenco drew attention to the fact that the country has all the conditions for organizing an interesting trip, especially for Italian citizens, given that Italy and Moldova are connected by nine airports, and the country is only two hours apart. At the International Tourism Fair 2019, Moldova participated in a collective stand at which were represented the Association of Inbound Tourism of Moldova (ANTRIM), Moldovan tour operators Solei Travel, Tatra-Bis, Ways Travel, Fly24, as well as wineries. The participation of Moldovan companies in the exhibition became possible thanks to the support of the Competitiveness Enhancement Project (funded by USAID and the Government of Sweden), as well as the Moldova Investment Agency. As previously reported, a marketing campaign began on the Italian market two years ago, during which several tour operators included Moldova in their tour offerings.// 14.02.2019 — InfoMarket.
