Moldovan authorities announced the launch of a package of social measures to improve the lives of citizens, providing for higher salaries, pensions, benefits
In particular, this was announced at a joint press conference by President of Moldova Igor Dodon, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Prime Minister Ion Chicu after their meeting at the State Residency. They noted that the planned 7 important social protection measures will be implemented as soon as possible and will help improve the situation in national economy and the standard of living of citizens. In particular, it is planned to pay a one-time allowance for the New Year holidays - 700 lei to recipients of pensions and state benefits. About 625 thousand people will receive this money. It is planned to index pensions twice a year, starting on October 1, 2020. The number of recipients is estimated at about 400 thousand. In addition, it is planned to increase the amount of financial assistance during the heating period from 350 to 500 lei, as well as increase the number of families enjoying this right - from 170 thousand to 300 thousand. Guaranteed payment of pensions is also provided for 5 years in the event of the death of one of the spouses. The approximate number of recipients is 2.9 thousand people. It is planned to increase the size of the monthly allowance from 100 to 300 lei for war veterans, participants in the hostilities to defend the independence and territorial integrity of Moldova and participants in the war in Afghanistan. About 20.5 thousand people will receive this help. It is also planned to increase the lump sum for young doctors and pharmacists working in rural areas. For specialists with higher specialized education, the amount will increase from 45 thousand to 120 thousand, and for personnel with secondary specialized education - from 36 thousand to 96 thousand lei. The number of recipients is about 500 people. Along with this, it is planned to increase salaries in the public sector, which will average 10%. However, for some categories it will be more significant: 17.6% for teachers, educators, 30% for librarians and cultural workers, 16% for social workers. President Igor Dodon noted that on the threshold of winter the authorities have a lot of work, and they will do everything possible to ensure that their decisions are what citizens are waiting for. Parliamentary speaker Zinaida Greceanii assured that parliament will approve important social projects in the near future. “We are at the end of the year, time is urgent. Therefore, we will support in parliament all social initiatives that meet the interests of citizens. Then we will send to the government projects that are designed to determine the resources necessary for their successful implementation,” said the speaker. Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that there is ongoing work to promote the draft budget for the next year, as well as other legislative acts of national importance. “We will have a busy agenda for the coming week, which includes high-level meetings, government meetings, trips abroad, as well as participation in international events of great importance,” the Prime Minister added. The country's top leadership decided to hold meetings in the president-speaker-prime minister format every Monday.
