The volume of industrial production in Moldova increased in January-April 2019 by 4.1% versus the same period of 2018
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in April 2019, the volume of industrial production increased by 12.3% versus the same month of the previous year. In general, over 4 months in 2019, the volume of production in the mining industry increased versus the same period of the previous year by 57%, and in the processing industry - by 4.4%. According to the NBS, in January-April 2019, food industry enterprises reduced the overall production by 1.8% against the same period in 2018. At the same time, beverage production increased by 0.6%. Textile production decreased by 22%. Clothing output dropped by 6.6%. Tanning and leather finishing, manufacture of luggage, handbags, saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur decreased by 20.2%, and wood processing and the production of wood and cork, except furniture; production of straw and other plant materials for weaving increased by 4.5%. The production of paper and paper products increased by 2.6%, while the production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 19.2%. Pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical products grew by 19.3%, while the production of rubber and plastic products increased by 25.5%. In the metallurgical industry, production increased by 21.1%. The output of metal structures and products, except for machines, equipment and installations increased by 23.4%, computers, electronic and optical products increased by 52.7%. Electrical equipment production decreased by 2.6%, machinery and equipment decreased by 33.1%, cars, trailers and semi-trailers increased by 75.6%. Furniture production increased by 9.5%. Production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water decreased by 0.5%.
