
The volume of industrial production in Moldova increased in I quarter of 2019 by 1.5% versus the same period of 2018
The National Bureau of Statistics reported that in March 2019, the volume of industrial production increased by 0.9% versus the same month of the previous year. In general, over the first 3 months of 2019, production volumes in the extractive industry increased by 80.2%, as compared with the same period of the previous year, and the production in the processing industry - by 1.7%. According to the NBS, the food industry enterprises in January-March 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, reduced the overall production by 1.4%. At the same time, the production of beverages decreased by 3.6%. Textile production decreased by 12.2%. Clothing output fell by 9.9%. Tanning and leather finishing; manufacture of luggage, handbags, saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur decreased by 23.2%, and woodworking and the production of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and other plant materials for weaving - increased by 5.2%. The production of paper and paper products decreased by 7%, while the production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 22.9%. Pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical products grew by 5.8%, rubber and plastic products - by 24.3%. In the metallurgical industry, production increased by 18.9%. The output of metal structures and products, except for machines, equipment and installations, increased by 23%, computers, electronic and optical products decreased by 14.5%. The production of electrical equipment decreased by 7.3%, machinery and equipment - decreased by 43%, cars, trailers and semi-trailers production increased by 76.9%. Furniture production increased by 1.5%. Production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water decreased by 2.1%.
