The foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Moldova decreased in May 2018 by $26.58 million, or by 0.9%, to $2 billion 842.71 million, in comparison with the previous month

According to the NBM, the decrease in its official reserve assets was due to such factors as: a decrease in the exchange rates of the currencies that make up the foreign exchange reserves in relation to the dollar: $36.67 million; payments related to servicing Moldova's external public debt: $7.42 million; net outflow of funds related to the licensed banks’ mandatory reserves in foreign currency: $6.52 million; payments of the Ministry of Finance of Moldova: $5.23 million; other net payments: $0.43 million. At the same time, during the reporting period, the increase in the official reserve assets was facilitated by the following factors: loans and grants received by the Ministry of Finance to implement investment projects: $14.92 million; interventions in the domestic foreign exchange market in the form of currency purchase: $10.1 million; profit from managing the foreign exchange reserves: $3.5 million; financial means amounting to $0.23 million received by the Ministry of Finance from the International Development Association as budget support; net proceeds to the Directorate of the credit line: $0.13 million; reevaluation of securities of the investment portfolio: $0.43 million // 11.06.2018 - InfoMarket.
