This was stateted by the National Bank of Moldova in the context of information appeared in the media about the decision of the European Central Bank (ECB) to stop issuing banknotes of 500 euros by the end of this year. As specified by the National Bank, the decision of the ECB was taken 2 years ago to prevent illegal activities, which use 500-euros banknotes. At the same time, it is planned to introduce banknotes in denominations of 100 and 200 euros of the "Europe" series. Banknotes from 5 to 200 euros will remain in circulation. "Europe" banknotes are gradually being introduced for several years in ascending order.
