At a meeting of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission on September 19, will be considered the Road Map, covering the entire spectrum of economic interaction.
This was announced by Vladislav Darvay, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Moldova, in an article written for the Russian publication Kommersant, noting that the purpose of the roadmap is to overcome differences, increase openness and predictability of relations between our countries. Russia and Moldova are invited to take equal obligations to resolve the accumulated economic problems on the basis of partnership, mutual benefit and respect, taking into account the real prerequisites for the development of trade and economic relations. The trade representative of the Russian Federation in Moldova noted that political speculation cannot and should not be higher than the growth of the welfare of the population of Moldova. He pointed out that bilateral economic cooperation has lasted almost three decades, and its potential has remained untapped. “But Moldova for Russia is not only a supplier of wine, vegetables and fruits, and Russia for Moldova is not only a market for agricultural products or a country that accepts flows of labor migrants. We need to get away from the template concepts and the archaic model of the exchange of traditional goods. It’s time to look for and find unused common ground in the context of the planet’s economy moving towards the fourth industrial revolution, ”said Vladislav Darvay. He drew attention to the fact that today Moldova produces almost the same product range as other states of Eastern Europe, and this is not an adequate basis for the economic breakthrough that our country needs. This economic content is not enough to make the Moldovan market attractive to large investors. The world has become technological, complex, competition has intensified. You should keep up with it so as not to get stuck in the past. The Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Moldova recalled that Russia was and remains one of the main trade partners of Moldova. In 2018, trade amounted to $ 939.4 million, an increase of 13.7% compared with 2017. According to him, there are prospects for cooperation between Moldova and the Eurasian Economic Union. Vladislav Darvay pointed out that the new Moldovan government led by Maia Sandu did not repeat the mistakes of its predecessors: to step aside from an open dialogue and replace the lively discussion with geopolitical slogans. He emphasized that Russia respected and respects Moldova’s foreign policy choice, but the actions of the previous authorities, declaring EU orientation and defiantly avoiding Russia, did not bring the country closer to the European Union, but, on the contrary, alienated it. “The idea that it is good to curtail Chisinau’s interaction with Moscow, especially in the trade and economic sphere, is absurd and certainly does not contribute to the development of the country. It is hoped that the new government has a fresh perspective and its course towards European integration does not imply a taboo on relations with Russia. Even in the EU, to which Chisinau aspires, dialogue and cooperation with Moscow are not neglected, although there are enough difficulties in relations between Russia and the European Union, ”said the trade representative of the Russian Federation in Moldova.// 17.09.2019 — InfoMarket.
