Citizens are being warned about the potential risks of making online purchases on platforms located outside the EU, including Chinese ones
According to the State Inspectorate for Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection, over the past week, the Single Consumer Call Center, established under the inspectorate's auspices, has received several calls from consumers reporting problems with orders placed through such apps. They complained, in particular, about non-compliant products, lack of warranty, delivery delays, and difficulties communicating with sellers. The inspectorate, in turn, recommends that citizens exercise caution when using such platforms. The agency draws attention to the risks consumers face when using e-commerce platforms registered outside the EU: products may not meet safety, quality, and market standards in force in Europe, and consumer rights—such as product returns, warranty claims, or filing complaints—may be limited or difficult to exercise. There are also risks associated with the protection of personal data and the security of online payments, as some apps collect a large amount of user information. In some cases, the goods delivered may be counterfeit, uncertified, or even dangerous. The institution recommends that in all cases, customers contact the Unified Consumer Service Center at /022/51-51-51. // 27.10.2025 — InfoMarket.
