The Moldovan government did not conduct any consultations with NR Investments Ltd and will continue to seek termination of the Chisinau Airport concession agreement with Avia Invest.
The Cabinet made such important clarifications after the appearance on Thursday of information in the media regarding the completion of the transaction to change the shareholder in Avia Invest, which owns the Chisinau Airport concession contract. “Between the Government of Moldova and NR Investments Ltd. there was no consultation. Prime Minister Maia Sandu and the government were informed after the fact of the signing of a contract for the purchase of a 95% stake in Avia Invest SRL by NR Investments Ltd. and only after it was announced publicly. The government was not informed or consulted about the intention of NR Investments Ltd. to acquire Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd, which owns 95% of Avia Invest SRL, and to complete the purchase process” the statement said. It notes that Prime Minister Maia Sandu and Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brinzan previously told a representative of NR Investments Ltd. that the concession agreement is illegal and has serious legal problems, stressing that the prosecutor’s office is currently studying it. Subsequently, this issue was discussed at a meeting of the Supreme Security Council, where representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and other authorized bodies confirmed that the concession contract is unlawful, which blocks the registration of NR Investment Ltd as a new shareholder of Avia Invest. “From the press release published today, we understand that NR Investments Ltd. fully acquired Komaksavia Airport Invest Ltd, a Cyprus company, thus indirectly becoming the ultimate effective beneficiary of Avia Invest SRL, owning 95% of its shares. The government will continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in order to terminate the concession agreement of the Chisinau International Airport” the statement said. // 29.08.2019 - InfoMarket.
