And we will get more benefits in the future, building Europe at home,” said the head of the MIDEI. The Berlin Economics study compared trade data with the European Union of Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia in 2018 compared to 2013, the last year before the agreement on an in-depth and comprehensive free trade area with the EU. According to the information provided, Moldovan exports to the EU grew from $1 billion in 2013 to $1.6 billion in 2018 against the background of an increase in the export of spare parts for the automotive industry and an increase in the supply of agricultural products, especially sunflower seeds, corn and wheat. The EU share in the total volume of Moldovan exports increased from 56% in 2013 to 74% in 2018. The number of items of Moldovan goods exported to the EU increased from 927 to 1084. The share of raw materials in exports increased from 23% to 28% of the total volume, the share of semi-finished products decreased from 5% to 2%, and the share of processed products decreased from 73% to 70%.
