Wine in Moldova will be considered a food product, it will be possible to sell it in stores after 22:00, and the restrictions on its advertising will be lifted.
This includes the amendments to the Law on Grape and Wine, the Law on the Production and Turnover of Ethyl Alcohol and Alcohol Products, the Law on Regulating Entrepreneurship, and the Law on Advertising, passed by the Parliament in the second reading. It is envisaged that wine in Moldova will be qualified as: wine with a protected name of origin, wine with a protected geographical indication, wine without a protected name of origin and without a protected geographical indication, but with the name of the grapes variety called varietal wine, as well as wine without a protected name of origin and without a protected geographical indication and without the names of the wine sort, referred to as wine. Unlike most other alcoholic beverages, the food stores will be able to sell wine after 22:00. Also, wine will not fall under the article on restricting the advertising of alcoholic beverages on television and in print media.
