Since the beginning of 2018, the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) has approved over 405.7 million lei as subsidies to be allocated to Moldova’s farmers
According to AIPA, in total, 6316 applications for subsidies totaling more than 942.2 million lei were accepted for consideration from agricultural producers, but only 3049 files were approved for the allocation of 405.72 million lei. Most applications for subsidies were received from farmers of the following districts: Cahul - 468 files, Cantemir - 261 Ialoveni - 255, Hincesti - 254, Comrat - 249, Edinet - 240, Stefan-Voda - 236, Orhei - 234, Causeni - 221, Briceni – 233. At the same time, most of the subsidies were approved so far for the farmers of the the following districts: Causeni region - 24.7 million lei, Edinet - 21.5 million lei, Cahul - 21.3 million lei, Stefan-Voda - 18.7 million lei, Cantemir - 18.7 million lei, Orhei - 17.3 million lei, Hincesti - 16.9 million lei, Soroca - 16.2 million lei, Floresti - 16.1 million lei. The most popular support measures asked by agricultural producers are: laying, modernization and uprooting of perennial plantations, purchasing agricultural machinery and equipment, encouraging investments for the development of post-harvest infrastructure, processing and packaging of agricultural products. Most often, farmers are requesting funding for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, the construction of packaging workshops, the purchase of refrigerators for fruits, vegetables and grapes. Reception of grant applications from the farmers in the framework of the 2018 campaign began on February 1 and will last until October 31. At the same time, applications for compensation for irrigation costs will be accepted until November 15, and for stimulating insurance risks in agriculture - until December 15.
