Since the beginning of 2018, the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) has approved almost 370 million grants for the allocation to the farmers of Moldova.
According to AIPA, in total, 4,595 applications for subsidies totaling more than 702 million lei were accepted for consideration from agricultural producers, but 2,667 dossiers totaling 369.97 million lei were authorized to be issued. Most applications for subsidies came from farmers in the following districts: Cahul district — 379 files, Cantemir - 205, Ialoveni - 203, Hincesti - 193, Edinet - 186, Causeni - 173, Orhei and Stefan-Voda - 168 each, Briceni - 164. Thus, the most subsidies were approved by AIPA for paying out to farmers in the Causeni district - 23.5 million lei, Edinet - 19.9 million lei, Cahul - 18.3 million lei, Stefan-Voda - 17.2 million lei, Orhei - 16.7 million lei, Hincesti - 16.1 million lei, Cantemir - 15.8 million lei, Floresti - 15.6 million lei, Soroca - 15.55 million lei. The most popular measures of support asked by agricultural producers are: laying, modernization and uprooting of perennial plantations, purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, encouraging investments for the development of post-harvest infrastructure, processing and packaging of agricultural products. Most often, farmers are requesting funding for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, the construction of packaging workshops, the purchase of refrigerators for fruits, vegetables and grapes. Reception of applications for subsidies from the farmers in the framework of the campaign in 2018 began on February 1 this year and will last until October 31st. At the same time, applications for compensation for irrigation costs will be accepted until November 15, and for stimulating insurance risks in agriculture - until December 15.
