In Moldova, has been expanded the list of investment activities eligible for financing under the LIVADA Moldovei project, funded by the EIB.
Access to financial resources provided by the European Investment Bank in the framework of the project, worth € 120 million, will be received by small manufacturers, start-up companies, small and medium-sized enterprises from the agricultural sector. During the press conference on October 8, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Nicolae Ciubuc noted that the expansion of the list of beneficiaries is provided by the 2nd amendment approved by the Cabinet of Ministers to the Financing Agreement between Moldova and the European Investment Bank for the implementation of the Livada Moldovei project, signed on July 31 2014. In particular, project support will now be provided to the sector of production and processing of vegetables, grapes, the development of nursery-gardens, the production of bottled wines, the development of winemaking and agricultural tourism. EIB funds will be allocated to improve the competitiveness of domestic horticulture and viticulture in the domestic and foreign markets by ensuring the modernization of all production processes, processing of crops, post-harvest period through the introduction of modern technologies for the growth and storage of horticultural and wine-growing products. Also, access to credit resources of the European Investment Bank will be obtained by small producers of vegetables, fruits, nuts and ornamental shrubs, including small producers, start-up companies, small and medium enterprises from the agricultural sector. The project Livada Moldovei is designed for the years 2018-2021 and provides for the allocation by the European Investment Bank of a loan in the amount of 120 million euros, through which manufacturers can receive financial assistance. Access to money is possible through credit operations or through leasing companies. The total cost of each subproject is up to 5 million euros. To date, 45 farmers are the beneficiaries of the project. The minimum loan amount was 6 thousand euros, the maximum - 2 million euros. More than 300 economic agents from the horticultural industry and over 52 thousand peasant farms will benefit from the EIB's credit resources in the framework of the Livada Moldovei project. They can get investment loans at an attractive interest rate (5% for foreign currency and 7-8% for lei loans) for a period of 10 years with a vacation for payments up to 4 years.
