The International Women's Club of Moldova (IWCM) was formed in 1997 and brings together women from different countries and cultures whose common aims are friendship, social interaction and philanthropy. Traditionally, the members of the IWCM organize at least two charitable events per year: the Winter Charity Bazaar in December and the Night of Art in spring. The purpose of these events is to raise funds to help the needy in Moldova, with a special emphasis on women and children. The IWCM operates on an entirely voluntary basis and all money raised goes to charity. Last year’s event raised $35 000 which supported 12 projects and in total over the past 15 years, the IWCM has raised more than $240 000 to support a wide variety of good causes throughout Moldova. The 2011 Winter Bazaar brought together more than 40 participants: diplomatic missions, international organizations, local charities, artisans and businesses – and more than 7 000 people visited the event.
The main beneficiary of the IWCM Winter Charity Bazaar 2012 is CCF Moldova (Child, Community,Family Moldova) who will create a “social crèche” in Tiraspol to help prevent the abandonment of babies in institutions and the separation of socially vulnerable parents from their children. The social crèche will offer 10-12 places for day care for babies from 4 months up to 3 years old giving parents , usually single mothers with no financial, or family support, the opportunity of returning to work in order to support themselves and their families. For more information about CCF Moldova please visit www.ccfmoldova.org IWCM will also be funding smaller projects to benefit women and children in Moldova with the remaining funds.
